ECC's Byron Bursey Helps Out at Ronald McDonald House

East Coast Catering Chef Byron Bursey gets a good feeling from helping others. On July 18, 2013, he donated his culinary talents to the Ronald McDonald House Newfoundland and Labrador Home for Dinner Program.

Byron was approached by the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit of the Janeway Children’s Health & Rehabilitation Centre to assist with preparation of a meal for about 40 family members of NICU patients. The Home for Dinner Program is an opportunity to help alleviate stress for families coping with a child’s illness by providing a comforting meal. Volunteer groups are invited to come and prepare a meal of their choice for the grateful families staying at Ronald McDonald House Newfoundland and Labrador. Byron’s home-cooked meal consisted of barbecue chicken with a molasses sauce, fresh corn on the cob, fresh sautéed green beans, and an assortment of pastries and coconut cream pie. Byron was joined by five nurses from the Janeway Children’s Health & Rehabilitation Centre for the preparation and service of the meal.

Byron says, “seeing so many happy faces on the parents and some of the sick children gave me such a feeling of well-being.”

East Coast Catering is proud to have employees like Byron Bursey, who embody our commitment to give back to the communities in which we work and live. We also thank the Ronald McDonald House Newfoundland and Labrador for their ongoing efforts to provide comfort and support to the families of sick and injured children.
