Henry Goodrich arrives in Gulf of Mexico

After serving the rig continuously on the Grand Banks since 2002, East Coast Catering employees were among 149 persons onboard semi-submersible drill rig Henry Goodrich for a 21 day tow from Newfoundland to Corpus Christi, Texas. In addition to the rig crew and catering staff, there were approximately 70 employees onboard from local companies D.F. Barnes Limited and Penney Energy who were completing work in preparation for the rig’s new contract in the Gulf of Mexico. While the ECC employees are returning home immediately, the contractors’ employees will remain with the rig until the required modifications are completed. Many of Transocean’s Canadian employees will remain with the rig while it is under contract in the Gulf of Mexico.

The Henry Goodrich completed its long-term contract with Petro Canada on August 16th and was towed to Conception Bay South where it was moored for three weeks while work commenced on modifications required for its new contract with StatoilHydro. While in CBS, the rig had as many as 200 persons on board each day. The rig left CBS on September 6th.

In over five years of service to the Henry Goodrich, ECC enjoyed very high service quality ratings and had an exemplary safety record with no lost time injuries recorded. Management commends all employees for their dedication to service quality and safety.
